Cost-effectiveness of the promotion of physical activity in health care

Physical inactivity is usually a key reason for diminished quality of life, in addition to several common diseases and even early death. The majority of people, throughout the world, are rarely physically active. As a result, physical inactivity affects the burden of disease, and raises its societal costs. In view of this, it is crucial to ask how healthcare need to respond when the population and the patients are either non-active or hardly physically active. Cost-effectiveness analyses of the promotion of physical activity in health care can play a role substantially to health care policy. The actual purpose of this dissertation was to investigate the cost-effectiveness of physical activity promotion in the health care system. The specific goals were: (I) to offer a model for examining cost-effectiveness and equity in health for community-promoted physical activity, (II) to analyze existing knowledge about the cost-effectiveness of healthcare based interventions directed at bettering physical activity, (III) to observe the cost effectiveness of physical activity promotion as a treatment solution in primary health care, (IV) to demonstrate the significance of enjoyment of exercise in interventions targeted at promoting physical activity, and (V) to explain an approach to valuing the time spent on exercise.
