Thermal Decomposition

Examination of the Thermal Decomposition of Chrysotile

Project on Thermal Decomposition of Chrysotile. The splitting of pure chrysotile from Thetford, Quebec warmed up at constant temperature in air from 200-1000°C for 4 to 720 hrs has been investigated by making use of X-ray diffraction and optical microscopy methods. No morphological modifications had been observed optically below 450ºC and 24 hours, although X-ray diffraction data advise that chrysotile degrades then recrystallizes below 450°C.
