Measurement of alignment between standards and assessment

Many educational systems nowadays are standards-based and focus on for alignment, i.e. consistency, among the aspects of the educational system: standards, teaching and assessment. To summarize whether the alignment is adequately high, analyses with a useful model are required. This dissertation looks into the usefulness of models for examining alignment between standards and assessments, with focus on one method: Bloom’s revised taxonomy. The dissertation includes an intro and 5 articles that empirically investigate the usefulness of methods for alignment analyses. In the 1st article, the usefulness of various models for examining alignment between standards and assessment is theoretically and empirically compared based on a number of criteria. The outcomes show that Bloom’s revised taxonomy is the most useful model. The 2nd article researches the usefulness of Bloom’s revised taxonomy for interpretation of standards in mathematics with two differently composed panels of judges….
