The biggest problem of today’s Information society is overabundance of information on any one topic; this presents a challenge for the information professional as well as the user of information. Moreover, for many information users of different levels, the problem is, a lack of appropriate information, namely, one which they can easily comprehend, assimilate and make use of with a certain amount of confidence and reliability within the framework of their own environment. Hence, the crux of the problem lies in the improper packaging of information not the overabundance; the information needs to be packaged in a form that should be useful to different groups of users. This only can ensure fruitful use of existing information. State-of-the-art report is one such kind of information product.
