Metabolic disturbances in shift workers

An elevated chance for coronary heart disease among shift employees is previously revealed in the epidemiological literature. The purpose of this dissertation is to penetrate metabolic disturbances and weight problems amongst shift employees when compared with day employees, and to evaluate if there are variations in overall mortality or trigger particular fatality of coronary heart disease (CHD), diabetes or ischaemic stroke among the 2 groups. In an intervention research on women nurses (N=11), on night schedules in Umeå hospital, the biggest peak value of glucose and insulin following meal ingestion had been observed in the late night (23:30). The post-prandial area under curve (AUC) of glucose and insulin was correspondingly biggest following food intake the same clock hour when compared with food intake other clock times…
